The departments of Tourism Management and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, which are part of the Faculty, have been authorized by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) and have the right to receive full accreditation for 6 years as of December 31, 2025, from the Tourism Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board (TURAK) . With the full accreditation it received, MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism has become one of the few tourism faculties with all its departments fully accredited.
MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism, which started its educational activities in 2013; is among the prominent faculties of tourism education at the undergraduate level in Turkey with its strong academic staff, foreign language-oriented education structure, and practice-based teaching model. The departments of Tourism Management and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, which actively provide education at the faculty, prepare their students directly for the sector with the 6+2 applied education model. In this model, students receive theoretical education for the first three years, while in the final year, they participate in the 'Vocational Training in the Workplace' application in tourism businesses for two semesters. Additionally, mandatory summer internships and practical courses conducted from the first year reinforce the students' professional skills.
The faculty also places special emphasis on foreign language education. In addition to English, second and third foreign languages such as German and Russian aim to enhance students' competitiveness in the international tourism sector.
MAKÜ provides students with sector experience in practical areas
The Faculty, which has strong facilities in terms of practical education infrastructure; offers students real sector experience with application areas such as the five-star Lavanta Tepesi Hotel, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Application Kitchen, Book & Coffee Cafeteria, and the Stone Room Gastronomy Kitchen located in the center of Burdur. In these areas, students can both carry out course applications and benefit from part-time work and employment opportunities.
In addition to academic education, the Faculty contributes to students' career development; School-Sector Meetings, sector interviews, panels, and one-on-one meetings are organized. Representatives from important tourism destinations in Turkey, especially Antalya and Bodrum, have the opportunity to make direct contact with students. Additionally, collaborations with the Professional Hotel Managers Association (POYD) support students' transition to the sector.
The success of obtaining full accreditation revealed that the educational activities carried out at the Faculty are in line with national quality standards in terms of academic staff qualifications, current curriculum structure, student-centered approach, and collaborations established with stakeholders. With both departments being fully accredited, MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism is among the few tourism faculties in Turkey that have achieved this success.

In a statement regarding the matter, the Dean of MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşilştaş said:
“The full accreditation of our departments of Tourism Management and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts by TURAK is a clear indication of the quality of education provided at our Faculty. With this success, our Faculty has become one of the few tourism faculties with all its departments fully accredited.
