A workshop on the Effective Writing of ECTS Information Packages was held at MAKÜ

In the workshop organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Education and the Quality Coordination Office, important evaluations were made to strengthen quality processes and achieve accreditation goals.
The opening speech of the workshop was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar. In her speech, Çakar stated that the main purpose of the quality assurance system in higher education is the continuous improvement of education, research, and social contribution activities, and she said:
“The establishment of a quality culture is possible through program design, learning outcomes, and the holistic structuring of ECTS information packages. This workshop has strategic importance in achieving the accreditation goals of our programs and in the continuous improvement of our education processes.”
Prof. Dr. Çakar noted that a total of 18 programs, including 13 undergraduate programs, are accredited at MAKÜ, and stated that there are 378 programs across the university, indicating that the workshop was planned in two sessions to support this process.
“Academia is the most advanced form of teaching”
Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, the Vice Rector, emphasized that universities are not only educational institutions but also centers for research, development, and innovation.
“Academics are not only those who teach but also researchers, project developers, and knowledge producers. We must not forget that we are all teachers at the same time. Academia is the most advanced form of teaching.”
Öner highlighted the importance of aligning the learning outcomes of courses with program outcomes, stating that this way, it would be possible to evaluate more clearly which skills students have acquired. He also announced that a new software program that will transfer measurement and evaluation processes to a digital environment will soon be shared with faculty members.
Information sharing from expert names
In the first session of the workshop held in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Sağ provided a general framework for the process with his presentation on “The Bologna Process and European Credit Transfer.” Dr. Instructor Member Funda Uysal informed participants on the topics of “Writing Program Outcomes, Learning Outcomes, and Workload Calculation.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şeyma Uyar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neşe Öztürk Gübeş, and Dr. Instructor Member Hatice İnal made presentations on “Assessment Approaches in Learning, Evaluation of Student Performances, and the Tools Used.”
In the second session held in the afternoon at the Lavender Hill Hotel, participants worked on practical examples related to the writing of ECTS information packages in workshops organized at 11 separate tables. At the end of the day, a report evaluating the conducted works was presented, and the workshop concluded.
