During the meeting, information was provided to the new members about the functioning of the senate, and the decision to launch a website for the student senate was made. Additionally, topics such as the implementation of micro-credential programs at the graduate level and the election of the vice president were discussed.
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, who attended the meeting, emphasized that they attach great importance to the student senate. Dalgar stated, “Our purpose of being here is to fulfill an important duty entrusted to us by the state in the best possible way. You are the youth that will shape the future of this country. Our goal is to contribute to your development as more conscious, competent, and self-expressive individuals.”
Highlighting the importance of listening to students' expectations, Dalgar said, “Since the student is at the center of the process, our fundamental question should be this: What does the student say, what do they expect? What kind of educational ecosystem, what kind of support and services do you want from us? This feedback is extremely valuable to us. Your opinions will guide us in recognizing new problem areas and developing solutions.”
Dalgar pointed out that the perspective of young people is of great importance in guiding university management, stating, “We will continue to meet with you at regular intervals and maintain this interaction. Because our job is to provide valuable service to the student.”
The student who presides over the senate, Merve Öztürer, emphasized the value of the environment provided by the student senate in her speech. Öztürer said, “Since we started our work last term, being part of such a valuable structure is a great opportunity for me. Our university truly values its students. This is a very important opportunity for us. I thank everyone who has provided us with this opportunity.”
During the continuation of the meeting, Öztürer shared the decisions made in the senate with the participants.
