Our Quality Coordination Department Organized the Conference on "Resistance and Struggle Against Institutional Change"

The conference titled Resistance and Struggle Against Institutional Change was organized by the Quality Coordination of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University as part of our university's quality assurance system and continuous improvement efforts.

The conference, held on October 8, 2026, in the Rectorate Senate Meeting Hall, featured Prof. Dr. Azmi Yalçın from Çukurova University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences as a speaker. The conference was organized to include the deans/deputy directors responsible for quality processes in our university's academic units and the heads of the unit quality committees.

During the conference, Prof. Dr. Azmi Yalçın addressed the reasons for the resistances encountered in institutional change processes, the impact of organizational culture on managing change, and the importance of leadership and effective communication in a successful transformation process. He emphasized that change can only be sustainable not just through structural arrangements but also through employee participation in the process, fostering organizational belonging, and developing a common understanding.

The conference shared important evaluations regarding the strengthening of quality culture in universities and the adoption of a continuous improvement mindset at the institutional level, highlighting the necessity of conducting change processes with a participatory approach that aligns with organizational culture. The conference concluded after addressing participants' questions and the evaluations made.

It is aimed that the event organized by our Quality Coordination will contribute to the dissemination of quality culture at our university, increase awareness regarding change management, and support continuous improvement efforts.
