“We will accelerate awareness activities in line with the goals of the Barrier-Free University”

Speaking at the protocol ceremony, Rector Dalgar said; “As a university, we have previously undertaken various projects to facilitate the educational lives of individuals with disabilities. Our Equestrian and Hippotherapy Center contributes to society by organizing awareness activities for children with autism. Additionally, different faculties of our university are developing projects to ensure the active participation of individuals with disabilities in social life. Within the framework of this new protocol, we will carry out various projects with our university and the Turkish White Cane Association, organize campaigns, and accelerate awareness-raising activities. With this protocol, ‘Barrier-Free University MAKÜ’ has added another project supporting equal opportunities in education” he stated.

Within the scope of this protocol, educational, research, and career planning activities will be conducted for individuals with physical, sensory, psychological, and mental differences.

The protocol, with the support of university students and non-governmental organizations, covers a wide range of activities from awareness campaigns to infrastructure development. At the same time, it aims to support projects at the master's and doctoral levels.

Previously, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University İstiklal Campus and Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Library received the 2024 Accessibility Award (Orange Flag), and MAKÜ Faculty of Sports Sciences also received the 2024 Accessibility Award in Education (Green Flag).
