Opportunity for international students from MAKÜ to become 'Trade Ambassadors'
Yapılış Tarihi | 10 March 2025, Monday
Our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar came together with international students at the iftar program held in the Avşarhan cafeteria and gave an important announcement. Rector Dalgar introduced the 'Burdur Trade Ambassador Program' to be implemented in collaboration with the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This program will enable international students to establish a commercial bridge between Turkey and their home countries.
Rector Dalgar emphasized that the program will contribute not only to the academic development of students but also to their graduation with commercial skills. “Thanks to this project, our international students will graduate as trade ambassadors. They will undertake a mission to strengthen commercial relations between Turkey and their home countries,” he said.
Education and certification program
Students participating in the Burdur Trade Ambassador Program will undergo a total of 90 hours of training, consisting of 60 hours of theoretical and 30 hours of practical training. The training will cover topics such as international trade, export processes, and financing. At the end of the program, students will be entitled to receive the 'Corporate Foreign Trade Specialist Certificate'. Additionally, in collaboration with the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, students will gain sectoral experience by being matched with commercial firms.
Great opportunity for international students
Rector Dalgar stated that the program offers a great opportunity for international students, saying, “Our students in Burdur will develop themselves academically and step into the world of trade by establishing international collaborations. They may even stay in Turkey and continue their professional careers here.”
Students who wish to participate in the Burdur Trade Ambassador Program can apply to the International Relations Coordination Office. Rector Dalgar expressed that by increasing opportunities for international students, the program will strengthen Burdur's economic and cultural relations.
This project, which offers both career and cultural bonding opportunities for international students studying in Burdur, stands out as an innovative initiative aimed at being expanded with broader participation in the future.
Rector Dalgar; “This is your home too”
During the iftar dinner attended by the management team, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar continued his speech by asking students to feel at home, saying;
"The Turkish nation has been a society that stands out for its hospitality and love for people throughout history. You have experienced this warmth in the best way here. I can say with peace of mind that no matter where you come from or what culture you belong to, we want you to feel at home.
Dear young people, see this place as your own homeland. Currently, there are approximately 1200 international students from 40 different countries at our university. God willing, we aim to increase this number significantly, raising 40 different countries to 80 and 1200 students to 4000-5000. Your education together with our Turkish students will contribute to establishing strong bonds of friendship and developing international friendships in the future.
We value your presence here very much. Our International Relations Coordination Office should be a point of contact for you. Occasionally visit there to communicate with our professors and stay informed about the opportunities our university offers.
Do not feel like a foreigner. Like the true children of this country, feel at home here and share your thoughts, suggestions, and requests with us. Rest assured that we will do our best to meet your needs in line with the opportunities provided by our state."
