In the rapidly changing and uncertain world of the 21st century, traditional education models are no longer sufficient on their own. The business world is now looking for individuals who are not only diploma holders but also flexible thinkers, possess versatile skills, and are open to learning. Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) has become one of the universities that recognized this transformation early and took innovative steps. By offering many non-curricular competency gains, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University aims to increase its attractiveness in the coming years.

The Unit Micro Qualification Programs (BMYP) implemented at our university are one of the most concrete indicators of this vision. As of today, 53 different micro-qualification programs have been made available for students' preferences. More than 1500 students applied for the programs, but due to limited quotas, nearly 1200 students were accepted.

Education enriched by academia and intertwined with the industry

The most striking feature of the BMYPs is that at least 30% of the training is provided directly by industry representatives. Students come together not only with academic experts but also with experienced names from the business world. In the remaining class hours, numerous academics from different faculties contribute to the students' development. The trainings are largely aimed at skill acquisition. Practical and workshop-based structures have been designed. Thus, MAKÜ students gain real industry experience even before graduation.

Competencies certified with digital badges

Each micro-qualification program is designed to be short-term, modular, and focused directly on skill acquisition. At the end of the program, students will have certificates recognized in the business world, and their achievements will be documented with digital badges. These badges will have a transparent, reliable, and traceable structure integrated into the digital system of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

MAKÜ is one of the pioneering universities in Turkey

Research shows that 74% of employers prefer candidates with micro-qualifications; skill-based hiring on platforms like LinkedIn has increased by 63%. MAKÜ is also among the pioneering universities in Turkey in this field. Our university prepares its students not only for graduation but also for versatile and flexible careers with its innovative certificate programs developed in various fields.
